Fleet Tracking Keeps Emergency Services Firm on Track During Hurricane Sandy

Posted on the 04 April 2013 by Fleetmatics @fleetmatics

Hurricane Sandy unfortunately devastated New York and many of the surrounding states when it hit in October of 2012. Thankfully for residents and corporations in affected areas, there was many options to choose from when it came to choosing an emergency-response service company. One of these companies, Total Environmental Restoration Solutions (TERS), had a leg up on its competitors thanks to Fleetmatics fleet tracking.

The Nanuet, N.Y.-based company provides environmental consulting and restoration services for facilities affected by microbial, fire, and water damage. TERS relied on fleet tracking to keep their fleet running smoothly during this time of disaster. Fleetmatics was able to provide real-time traffic information and vast routing options.

TERS President, Gary Shaked, is grateful that his 7 vehicle fleet was well prepared for the aftermath of Sandy. Being able to see routing options and real-time traffic information was and is critical for the productivity of the company. Even in temperate weather, traffic jams are very common in New York. While Hurricane Sandy could have been a customer-service nightmare for many companies, TERS was able to actually increase business in the afterstorm. Fleet tracking made it so that TERS could navigate easily around obstructed roads and bridges.
