Five on Friday: Peta Bourke of Trainee Mama

By Blondeambition @BrookeFalvey

On Five on Friday, I've already introduced you to a handful of awesome women I've turned into real life friends after meeting through the sometimes weird world of Instagram/the internet. Today I've put Peta Bourke from Trainee Mama in the hot seat. Not only is a she a pocket rocket and fitness instructor, she's hilarious as hell, loves a gossip about reality TV shows and she's mum to three of the most gorgeous kids I know. Watching her Instagram Stories of twin daughters Evie and Frankie (and big brother Ned), puts a smile on my face each morning.

How would you describe yourself in just three words?
Relaxed, competitive, adaptable

How long have you been blogging and what do you write about?
I've been blogging for probably at least seven years in one form or another. My initial blog was all about bargain hunting, the one that followed was all about our sea change to the Sunshine Coast and the current iteration,Trainee Mama, obviously follows my journey of motherhood which started nearly four years ago - although my and accounts are where I'm currently most active.

What was your first job?
I worked at a steak and seafood restaurant.

What's one thing you wish you did differently before you got married or had kids?
Definitely travelled more. My husband and I were only reflecting the other day how carefree we were when we travelled around Vietnam And China. Oh, and sleeping in!

What advice would you give your 16-year-old self?
You will eventually learn to love who you are and what you look like. Surprisingly enough, you'll improve with age.

What was your first thought when you found it you were having twins?
I swore multiple times and cried many tears, but not happy tears. I then rang my twin sister and through the fear and anxiousness, I remembered just how amazing our twin relationship is and it helped calm my nerves a little bit.

Describe your favourite way to spend a Sunday.
A good coffee, a family trip to the beach or river and then a solo trip to the shops for groceries and maybe something for myself. Ultimately family is everything to me but I so value my 'me time' as well.

If you could only listen to one type of music, what would you choose?
Old school R & B/rap for sure. It brings back so many amazing memories with my friends spending hours cutting a rug on the dance floor in our late teens and early twenties and I can't help but smile.

What is one thing you have always loved about yourself?
That's a tough one as I've only recently learned to like myself. I've got some pretty amazing eyelashes.

What are the best and worst things about being an identical twin?
There is nothing terrible about being a twin; the only downside is being recognised as your twin by people you haven't met before. Most times I explain that I'm not Vanessa but other times I just go along with it. The absolute best thing is our friendship; womb mates and best friends for life.
