Today we’re going to talk about a skincare product that I
wish I didn’t seem to need. Try as I might, every time I stop using the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads,
my face starts breaking out. I keep telling myself that something else must be
keeping the red bumpies at bay, but nope. Without these marvelous acid-soaked little
pads, those pesky clogged bumps rear their ugly red heads. So, why do I wish I
didn’t need them and how is it that they’re keeping acne under wraps? Keep on
reading and I’ll try to explain! J
Let’s start with what exactly the Facial Radiance Pads are
and what they do. Put simply, they are soft round pads soaked in liquid
intended to exfoliate, tone and brighten the skin on a daily basis. This is
accomplished rather simply through the mixture of exfoliating lactic and
glycolic acids, and the brightening fruit acids in which they are drenched. All
the ingredients are quite gentle and, as with all First Aid Beauty products,
they are unscented and safe for sensitive skin. They’re a nice quick and easy
way to tone and kind of purify the skin before moving on to serums, treatments
and/or moisturizers.
Despite being quick and easy, I just find myself not wanting
to add yet another step to my ridiculously lengthy skincare routine twice a
day. When I think about what to eliminate, these always seem first on the list,
but as I said above, I always regret it when the angry acne bumps start
appearing. The other reason I don’t love using this product is that I know I’m going to need a new container
in one month. That’s frustrating to me! I am so stingy with my products, but
this is one that I can’t really savor every last drop. When you use the last
pad, you need a new container. End of story. That frustrates my stingy little
brain! J I
really have nothing against these little wonder pads; I just don’t want to keep
shelling out for tub after tub of them! But alas, I must accept that it’s worth
it to keep my skin clearer.
Accepting my fate, I go about pot after pot, pad after
gloriously soaked pad. After cleansing and drying my face both morning and
night, I simply unscrew the container, grab a pad – they’re relatively thick so
they pry apart pretty nicely each time – swipe across my face and down my neck
and in the trash the little pad goes. While I let the wet solution dry a bit on
my skin, I apply eye cream and then continue on with the numerous bottles of
potions and so-called miracle creams that seem to keep my face relatively happy…as
long as I start with the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads!
These pads are available in both a 28-count and a 60-count
size. I have purchased both and have found both sizes keep every pad perfectly
soaked in solution. None are dried out and none are overly soaked. They are not
too wet either. Strangely, I don’t
find any liquid floating about the bottom of the empty containers either. I’m
not sure how First Aid Beauty manages to keep each pad perfectly hydrated at
all times, but they do! You save a dollar or two by purchasing the 60-count,
but I almost prefer the 28-count size because it’s easier to remove the pads
near the bottom due to the shallower container. I tend to go for the 60-count
size though to avoid need two
containers per month! J
And it’s still plenty easy to get the very last pad out of the container.
So there you have it. My love-hate relationship with the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads.
To be fair, I really do enjoy them. There is
something satisfying about wiping your face with a pre-dampened cotton round. I
just don’t want to need them as I
seem to. Do not be fooled – I highly
recommend these if you have trouble with clogged pores, acne, or dull skin
since the mixture of lactic, glycolic and fruit acids helps dissolve dead skin
cells to keep the complexion clearer and brighter. It really does seem to make a difference and they
are not insanely expensive. I do not find them at all irritating even twice
daily, but I wouldn’t call my skin terribly sensitive either. If you’re having
any of these troubles or are just looking for a nice toner that’s quick, easy,
and effective, definitely take a look at the Facial Radiance Pads. It’s a
fantastic product despite my dislike of having to pick up a new one each month!
