February Love List

By Courtneysims @courtneynora

February was kind of a whirlwind for me. It’s a short month already, but I am also taking some time off in March and so I’ve been trying to get all of my March projects done at work so that I’m not leaving anyone in the lurch while I’m out. We also made an unexpected trip back home to Michigan to help with some family things and before I knew it, February was over!

I felt a little unorganized and out of my element (aka not in control) in February, so I’m excited to start March and get back into a groove. I’ve got a lot of recipe projects and cleaning projects in my calendar and I can’t wait to get started.

So here’s a little of what I was up to in February and some of my current favorites. Plus, check out what Willa and Ellie are loving this month, too!

What I’m Eating

This month was a lot of go-to favorites and ordering in because I was struggling to meal plan. Here were some of the meals on repeat for us.

  • My Homemade Chili
  • Thai Steak Salad and Chicken and Dumplings from Half Baked Harvest
  • Teriyaki Pork and Pineapple Tacos (will share this recipe soon!)
  • Sausage with Bell Peppers and Rice (will share soon, too!)

What I’m Drinking

Last month I shared that we’ve been doing Naked Wines and we are still loving it. This month is yet another Pinot Noir from Scott Kelley. I can’t get enough of pinots lately.  I used to love cabernets but after being pregnant or breastfeeding for basically the last 3 years, cabs taste a bit too heavy to me. Pinots are exactly the kind of red I like to drink right now while it’s cold.

I was able to join Naked Wines and offer $100 off your first order. Just click to apply this voucher and enter your email address. You’ll receive an email for $100 off. Find out more about how Naked Wines works

What I’m Reading

miss independent book cover by nicole lapin

I am reading Miss Independent by Nicole Lapin and am loving it. I’m learning to take stock in what I earn and what I spend. I am getting familiar with different types of investments and overall gaining knowledge to help me be intentional with my money. I need to set some real financial goals and start working towards them and this book is helping me feel comfortable (and confident!) with doing that.

I plan on taking some of my side hustle money from freelancing and blogging and putting it to work to see if I can make some extra income by making my money work for me. I already know I’m going to be a pretty low-risk investor, but I do love knowing all the options available.

What I’m Watching

We finished Yellowstone Season 3 this month and I cannot wait until we can watch the next season. I was a little unsure about Yellowstone when we first watched it back at the start of winter, but when we gave it another try I was absolutely hooked.

It made me think of a cowboy Succession (which was my show last month!) and I got very into the drama and the characters.

New Purchases

new purchases in february

Here are some of the new things I bought in February. I will report back if they end up being amazing wins or super duds next month!

Double stroller

My sister-in-law has this Baby Trend Navigator jogging stroller for her kids, who are just a little older in ages than our girls. I saw this in their garage during a previous visit and asked her what she thought of it and she absolutely loves it. So we decided to get the exact same one and we also love it. It is pretty heavy, but it rides SO smooth and it gives both girls their own sun shades, cup holders, trays, and you can incline each seat to their preference. We LOVE it. And so do they!

Portland Leather Wallet

I mentioned in January that I bought a new leather bag from Portland Leather. I ended up loving it so much (the quality and color are great) that I bought myself a leather bi-fold wallet as well! I already took the time to clean everything out of my old wallet and swap to this new one and I can report that it is just as great of quality as the handbag. It’s a good size and keeps everything very organized and easy to reach.

Sisters First

I saw this Sisters First book recommended on Instagram – I think it was Mary Orton! I bought it for the girls’ Valentine’s Day basket but then in all the excitement of putting everything together, I forgot to add it. I’ll likely bust it out the next time I need them to be quiet before bedtime (so probably pretty soon), but the pictures are pretty. We haven’t read it yet, but I’m excited to.

Good & Gather Double Chocolate Granola

This is a really small purchase, but I had to share. I bought a bag of this Good & Gather Chocolate Granola on a whim to liven up my oatmeal and it is REALLY GOOD! I make plain oatmeal and add a little dollop of peanut butter and a handful of this granola. But this granola is delicious as a standalone snack, too! I love everything I’ve tried from Good & Gather at Target, but this is a current favorite.

Willa & Ellie’s Favorites
