February is London Theatre Month on The Daily Constitutional

By Lwblog @londonwalks
February is London Theatre Month on The Daily Constitutional Alongside our usual content this February, we’ll also be looking closely at London Theatre on The Daily Constitutional.

We'll have a daily picture quiz, competitions, features and our London Walks Podcast for February will also cover all matters stage-related.

As usual, we want to hear from you. If you’ve anything to say on theater in London, drop us a line at the usual address.
We'll raise the curtain with this, a piece by John Lithgow on his stint at our National Theatre… The great American actor John Lithgow, writing in the New York Times, brings a keen outsider’s eye to the business of working at our National Theatre.
“I am one of only a handful of American actors to perform there during its 50-year history,” he observes.
“The actors at the National are a smart and raffish lot, full of high spirits and self-mocking humor, with a disarming absence of snobbery and pretense. Because of them I have loved my time there. I have rarely had a job where I have been so eager to get to the theater at night. All of which accounts for the sentimental importance I attach to that vivid Press Night tradition in the National’s dressing rooms."

Mr Lithgow's article is a wonderful guided tour of National Theatre traditions and customs. Next week here on The Daily Constitutional we'll be offering you the chance to WIN TWO PLACES ON ONE OF THE NATIONAL THEATRE'S FAMOUS BACKSTAGE TOURS! Come back next week for full details.
