Far Cry 4 isn't true 1080p on Xbox One
The Xbox One version of Far Cry 4 does not render at native 1080p, Digital Foundry has confirmed, instead opting for a 1440x1080 resolution upscaled to 1080p.
The revelation comes weeks after Ubisoft claimed it was "aiming for 1080p on all platforms". The PS4 version renders at native 1080p.
The lower resolution offers the Xbox One version a slight advantage in its frame rate, however, which according to Digital Foundry's report, comes in "slightly higher [than PS4] during intense shoot-outs".
"In terms of the multi-platform comparison, the PS4 gets the nod here for its sharper native 1080p presentation and almost solid 30fps frame-rates," the site says. "In comparison, the image quality isn't quite as pristine on the Xbox One, although frame-rates are slightly higher under load, but the quality of the presentation overall remains excellent. It's a great buy on either platform."
Far Cry 4 launched on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC last Tuesday.
