Falguni Vasavada Oza - as a Woman.

Falguni is proud to be a Woman who absolutely is in love with this beautiful idea called "Life" 🙂 I am a Professor of Advertising Strategy at MICA, Consultant in areas of branding and marketing communication, researcher, speaker, Social Media Influencer and a plus size fashion blogger. I love my life and enjoy all ups and downs by always looking at the brighter side and have been working since last 19 years. I am happily married and totally believe in equality of genders be at work or at home and hence I am a proud feminist. I love working towards creating a gender equal world and breaking stereotypes in all walks of life!

Falguni Vasavada Oza's Professional Journey.

I was consciously working towards creating a strong professional life and was always surrounded by family that became my strength. Right from my teachers to my parents to my husband to my in-laws all have been that positive radiance which is much needed in the initial phase of your life. Professionally, the challenges faced initially were in terms of making people around me understand that I am in a career and not a job. Making people realize that I am serious about my work and income and not here to do time pass or a temporary job! One such example that I can recall is of my Accounts Department person asking me to check with my husband about my investment plans - needless to say, the incident had left me furious and had to give it back!

Personally, in the initial phase, my challenges were more in terms of establishing the much-needed work life balance but that was a little easier as I have always seen my mom working and perfectly balancing a joint family. As working women the act of going against the stereotypes and role defined activities is a challenge like for e.g. how a perfect daughter in law should be and what all she needs to do? The whole act of coming out of society defined norms is quite an evolving and tough process. Also for me, one major challenge was to reduce expectations from self and come out of the notion of "SuperWoman" 🙂

The importance of personal life, me time or self-love, for a woman. Here she shares her thoughts.

Oh, it's important for anybody, especially women. Women in the whole process of raising themselves to the best possible standards of all roles that they play, often forget themselves. Life for women moves very fast as they juggle between the roles of homemaker, working women, wife, daughter, sister, daughter in law, mother and so on. In my life, I have seen so many women for getting themselves completely into the busy life of raising a family. Women forget themselves and their identity, likes and dislikes in the process of being the best wife or the best mother. So I strongly appeal to all women to give time to their own selves and their like and dislikes. Self-love is very important to keep our own life going so I keep insisting on my blog also to all women that it is important to keep wearing colours that you love or going on a solo trip or reading your favourite book or keeping in touch with your own friends else there comes a stage in life when you feel left out!

What is 60 shades of Falguni ?

I love designing my own clothes and am in a lifelong love affair with good clothes, ethnic sarees, tribal jewelry, fashion statement jewelry and boldest shades of lipsticks. I wore frocks for the first time in my life at the age of 41.

60 shades of me also stand for a guilt free self-love! I love myself and have no qualms in showing that through my words, action and outlook.

Falguni's Mantra to stay Happy.

Yes! Please find yourself among the chaos. There is a joy in every phase of life and women is genetically programmed to be the caregiver and the nurturer so that comes naturally. But in today's age, these very roles need to change and all genders need to perform as per the requirement. Women need to take care of themselves and need to be guilt free in living by "Mein Apni Favourite Hoon" principle. Married women especially need to take care of their identity and not get lost in husbands world so much so that her own is forgotten or left behind!

Falguni is a Plus size Women and she inspires others. Here is what she has to say about being Plus size and a message to readers who face body shaming on being Plus size every now and then.

Women need to believe in their own selves. Self-belief is the strongest weapon. As a plus size woman, I have built up my confidence through education and my career that gives me financial and mental independence. I have accepted my body and always focus on creating a strong personality that goes beyond physique. As a plus-size woman, I need to understand my body type and dress according to occasions. The only thing I need not worry about is the "Society". Women need to remember that society sees only what you want to show so if you are conscious about yourself that is the first thing that gets noticed. Body shaming is an evil and we all must contribute in our own ways to stop this! Let's get stronger through education and financial independence and create a breed of women who are secure and happier.
