The Formula 1 championship is set to rev up with a bang in 2024, with back-to-back Saturday grands prix kicking off the season. Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will host the opening races on March 2 and 9 respectively, with the start shifted forward in order to accommodate Ramadan, which begins the following Sunday.
Australia is next in line, with the long-awaited return of the Chinese Grand Prix following after on April 21. While Japan has been brought forwards from its normally late-season slot to April 7th. All eyes are now on the wrap-up, which could be made even more exciting if reports of a triple-header finale prove true–with a race possibly taking place as late as December!
As always, teams will be eagerly waiting for their shot at claiming that podium finish when the flag drops on this year’s electrifying season opener. Buckle up!
F1 is shaking up its annual calendar this season by hosting three back-to-back race weekends across Asia, North America and Europe. These consecutive events are part of the sport’s efforts to reduce its impact on the environment in how it transports personnel and freight across the globe.
Starting off the campaign with what is being referred to as an ‘Asian leg’, F1 travels to Miami, USA for its Grand Prix on May 5th. Seven more European races follow before the usual mid-season break, beginning with a double header of Imola and Monaco at the end of May. Spain, Austria and Britain then form a trio of races across the late June and early July period, before Hungary on July 21st leading up to the summer break.
Belgium will once again play host to a Grand Prix due to failed efforts to organize a race at Kyalami in South Africa. The season then resumes with a repeated double-header of Zandvoort and Monza in August/September, rounding off the European part of the season.
Beginning October 20th in the traditional United States GP, the action then zooms to Mexico and Brazil on back-to-back weekends, before a three week pause in proceedings.
Excitement will reach fever pitch as the events reconvene in Las Vegas GP on November 23rd – another Saturday race – which marks the beginning of an unforgettable run to the finish line. The season’s conclusion continues in Qatar (December 1st) and Abu Dhabi (December 8th), with the fate of race titles hanging in the balance. With so much to play for, these last few races promise to be a spectacle to behold.
