Eyebrow Threading: a Mini Review

eyebrow threading: a mini reviewFor those of you looking for an answer in the best eyebrow shaping methods, I hope this can offer a little more insight. My teeny-thin eyebrows can’t grow much more than this, but that doesn’t mean I couldn’t use some sprucing up. Normally a fan of tweezers and some waxing sesh’s here and there, I decided to try threading a few months ago. And while I’ve only had it done twice, I love the results!

Threading involves using a literal spool of thread – which is then tightened, twisted and rolled over the skin, grabbing hair as it goes, and either removing or shaping them depending on the precision of the technician.

I was referred to threading by a co-worker and was initially skeptical of the results – waxing seemed to work just fine (although it always made my eyes water) but I was curious to try something new.

Unfortunately, the surprising aspect of threading is the pain. I’ve done some pretty AWFUL waxing (no explanation needed), and this, for me, was right up there. While the work done above my brows was no big deal, it’s underneath them (on the upper eyelid area) that’s like getting baby bee stings over and over again (you may say I silently scream). But 10 minutes later, I’m out of the shop with a stamp on my card towards a free session, beautiful brows and a few bucks left in my pocket (yep – it’s about $5 cheaper than waxing)!

So let’s review: cheaper, more painful, but just as precise as waxing. If you have coarse or thick hair, threading is perfect if you’re looking for expert shaping. Finer hair like mine may not see any difference between waxing and threading – but for the moment, it works.

Have you ever got your brows threaded before? How did you like (or not like) it?
