Fun Fact: People will throw their money at anything that has cat pictures. Need proof? Check out this Kickstarter for a card game with cat drawings that just raised over $3 million. I was beginning to think that those LOL cats days are finally over, but I guess not.
The Exploding Kittens is a funny card game made by the cartoon experts at the Oatmeal. They were only hoping to raise $10,000 in funds, but their Kickstarter managed hit $1 million 7 hours within the launch, $2 million within 24 hours and just hit $3 million on its third day. That’s actually more money than what Oculus Rift had raised in 30 days.
The Exploding Kittens project is already the most funded card game ever landed on Kickstarter. Numbers are still on the rise and from the looks of things, I think it might hit somewhere between $5 to $10 million within weeks.
