From the author of Everything We Keep comes the final novel in the Amazon Charts and Wall Street Journal bestselling Everything Series. Brimming with suspense, mystery, and romance, Everything We Give brings to a powerful close the gripping series of love, lies, and the secrets families keep.

Award-winning photographer Ian Collins made only one mistake in life, but it cost his mother her freedom and destroyed their family, leaving Ian to practically raise himself. For years he’s been estranged from his father, and his mother has lived off the grid. For just as long, he has searched for her.

Now, Ian seemingly has it all—national recognition for his photographs; his loving wife, Aimee; and their adoring daughter, Caty. Only two things elude him: a feature in National Geographic and finding his mother. When the prized magazine offers him his dream project on the same day that Aimee’s ex-fiancé, James, returns bearing a message for Ian but putting a strain on his marriage, Ian must make a choice: chase after a coveted assignment or reconnect with a mysterious woman who might hold the key to putting his past to rest. But the stakes are high, because Ian could lose the one thing he holds most dear: his family.

In October of 2016, I had the opportunity to be part of the BookSparks Fall Reading Challenge, which included Everything We Keep, the first book in a three-book series by author, Kerry Lonsdale (see review HERE).  The second book is Everything We Left Behind but unfortunately, I never had a chance to read it. Now that I’ve jumped ahead to book 3, you can bet I’ll be jumping back to read book 2 so I can fill in all the blanks.

Everthing We Give: A Novel by Kerry Lonsdale

Today’s post is about the third and final installment in the series, Everything We Give.  I highly recommend this series, it is such a blend of genres that it will appeal to a variety of readers – romance, mystery, suspense fiction – it’s all there. The first book, Everything We Keep, was primarily from Aimee’s perspective and was part mystery,  part love story.  Then came Everything We Left Behind, a story that brought readers current with Jamie, although Aimee and Ian were still in the mix.  In this third and final installment, Everything We Give, Ian was the focus.

This book was exactly as promised – UNPUTDOWNABLE.  That’s right, I couldn’t put it down and read it cover to cover.

Ian and Aimee are married and have a four year old daughter named Caty. He’s a successful professional photographer and Aimee is expanding her coffee shop. Ian’s marriage and career are successful, but he struggles with unresolved issues from his traumatic childhood.  There were some surprises in this story as readers follow along with Ian. The scenes were told alternating from the past to the present, and the flashbacks are acutely distressing and painful.

As a young boy, Ian loved his mother Sarah Collins, who suffered from mental illness. His father was largely absent and at times his childhood was dangerous and unsettling. Ian is haunted by his younger years and a mistake that he made driving his mother away and destroying his family.

Everything we Give totally wraps up all of the issues in the “Everything” series and it gives readers a great close-up view of Ian’s life. There are a few surprising twists in the story line that made a lot of things make sense.  It was an emotional journey and experience that will stay with me for quite awhile – a perfect ending to the trilogy.
