Event: Launch of Orbis in Singapore

By Beautifulbuns

Can anyone say “finally?!” Popular Japanese brand Orbis is finally available in Singapore! The brand, better known for its  100% Oil-free concept (very happy about this since I have plenty of oil to spare) and home shopping in Japan (and which also won them the best service award 3 years in a row!) was launched amidst much fanfare yesterday (quite literally, with lion dances and drums, drums being broken (Kagami Biraki, where a sake drum is broken at opening ceremonies). I felt so moved, literally – it was held at the Floating Pods at Fullerton Bay Hotel, and I didn’t know that it was really floating on water. Sea sickness much.  – green face-

An overview of the venue – Fullerton Bay Hotel Floating Pods. The first time I came here was for Kiehls, so since I knew where it was, I strolled in like a boss.

Loving the adorably astonished expression on their faces – Japanese are just so politely cute!

Kagami Biraki – done! gampai to Orbis! We even got to bring home these cute containers as a souvenir

Moving on to the separate Pods where there were product showcases – being typically me, I zoomed to the skincare and makeup area first.  I saw 5 skincare ranges showcased. Now, Orbis is free of artificial coloring and fragrance, so I found myself habitually trying to catch a whiff of the product scent, but there was none. I also like the simplicity of the range – it’s a simple 3 step for every range: cleanser, toner and moisturiser. That’s it, simple, sweet and stupidity-proof.

Here’s the most popular / best-selling range – the Aquaforce. Look, there’s even a cake/totem pole dedicated to it. lol. excuse me whilst I bring out my coconut husk to dance around it. But I kid – this range is dedicated to moisturising your skin and giving it continuous hydration.

Indulging slightly with a hand massage using the Aquaforce range.

Testing out the Cleansing Liquid, which was surprisingly non-watery (but not too viscous either) despite having no oil. It also left no greasy film on my skin. Yay! No wonder more than 30 million pieces have been sold till date.

Two interesting items – the Aqua Peeling Gel, which removes dead skin cells and dirt from your skin, and also the Whip Soda Pack, which is dispensed in a whipped cream / shaving cream style but is actually a rinse-off mask.

Very, very, very likey the UV Cut (in a white bottle), which is a superb makeup base (with a nice non-sticky and almost-velvety finish) and sunblock with SPF50.  Did I mention that it’s sweat- and moisture-proof? Woah. That’s not to say the other two aren’t good as well – both are sunblocks that aren’t sticky nor greasy.

Pretty pretty eyeshadow palettes!  They’re really a lot better than they look in my photos – the yellow lighting was killing me yesterday. meh!

Moving on to the next room with the supplements – Orbis is about beauty inside out, and have got a really wide range to suit all your needs.

I’d love to have these in my office for times when I feel snackish and peckish- L-R: Apple bars (not sure of the exact name, but it’s kinda like rice crisps with apple bits), Collagen The Beauty drinks and Collagen Jelly strips.

The part I was most excited about – The Petit Shakes! These are yummy one-meal replacements and instead of adding them to water, you add these to milk, and it becomes something like a watered-down mango pudding. If you’re on a diet, you can use these to replace just one meal a day. They come in a wide variety of flavours, but I’m totally loving the Macha (green tea) flavour. Come Christmas, there’ll be unique flavours that you can only find in Singapore, such as Double Berry & White Chocolate, Cheese Mousse, Caramel Pumpkin Pudding and Mixed Berry.

From what I heard, Orbis will be located at Robinsons, The Heeren (once the asset enhancement works are completed in Oct 2013) and also at Bishan Junction 8 (standalone store). I haven’t got further details at the moment, but will update once I get any. – major excited!-
