Estee Lauder Pure Colour Nail Lacquer in Smashed – Photos, Details & Review

By Kasthuri

Hello!

Estee Lauder Pure Colour Nail Lacquer in Smashed is one of my favorite shades when I’m in the mood for a deep nail shade.

This was one of the nail lacquers that premiered late last year in the Metal Mania Collection – the shades from this collection seem to have joined the permanent range of nail lacquers and seem to be still available. I’ve had it for a while and have used it for several manicures and pedicures but I kept forgetting to take photos of the lacquer on my nails! It caught my eye, glimmering and sparkling under the lights in Metro Paragon and I had no second thoughts. The Estee Lauder Pure Colour Nail Lacquers used to retail for about S$26 earlier but there seems to have been a price increase – I recently purchased another one, Bete Noire, at S$30.

I love the Estee Lauder Pure Colour Nail Lacquer packaging – it looks like a pop of molten color encapsulated in an ice-cube. The bottle literally displays the color in a very attractive manner. The brush is slimmer than say that of OPI and Dior nail lacquers but isn’t too slim that it requires numerous strokes (the slimmest are the the Orly brushes in my opinion). The formula is stellar – 2 medium-thin coats for perfect, glossy coverage. It is smooth to the touch despite the sparkle formula and is non-staining.

The real star is the shade itself – fuchsia, purple and blue sparkles lace the deep grape purple base. The micro-sparkles are very fine but are abundant in the lacquer so the shade really sparkles and glimmers. Here are some bottle shots which show off the sparkles.

And here it is, on the nails – it is deep and yet bright which makes it very very attractive and really has this galaxy-vibe about it. It really comes alive in the sun – and the magic isn’t lost when I have it on for a pedicure either.

I always seem to gravitate towards deeper, vampier nail lacquers during the year-end Holiday season – it’s perhaps just a sub-conscious move given the usual “fall-winter = deep nails” logic we are exposed. Smashed is one of my favourites, along with a new love, Essie Shearling Darling (Winter 2013) and I’ll be reaching for Smashed for my next pedicure. Unless Estee Lauder Pure Colour Nail Lacquer in Bete Noire beats it to that

:)

Thanks for stopping by and have a happy day!
