Empties | April 2013

By Lisagray @juicysatsuma
I missed last months empties post due to moving house, but I’m back for April’s post with my usual ridiculous number of empties!  Empties | April 2013
I’m delighted to say that all bar one of my empties this month are cruelty free, and a good few are BUAV approved! Let's take a closer look.
Empties | April 2013
Weleda Lemon Balm and Orange Blossom Shampoo  I picked this shampoo up for next to nothing in TK Maxx. It’s formulated for normal to oily hair which is maybe why it didn’t really do much for me. I have really oily roots, and really dry ends so finding a shampoo which can treat both is an ongoing saga for me!
Repurchase? No.
Gielly Green Classic Shampoo I was sent this shampoo in this Amarya beauty box. I didn’t love this shampoo but I didn’t hate it either. One thing I did like was the androgyny of it. I struggle to get Mr Juicy to use my cruelty free products because they tend to be girly wurly and smell of flowers! This product is in simple brown packaging, and it smells fresh and citric which keeps both sexes happy. Repurchase? No.
TRESemme Luxurious Shampoo I’ve had this little sample kicking about for quite some time. I think I got it in a magazine. Sadly it was actually quite good, but TRESemme is a Unilever brand and is animal tested. I also tend to stay away from high street hair care anyway because of the dubious ingredients. Repurchase? No.
John Masters Organics Evening Primrose Shampoo I received this little sample with an order from Naturisimo. I’ve tried it before and I love the scent but it just doesn’t work too well with my hair type. It’s designed for dry hair but I find that it actually makes my dry ends even drier. Repurchase? No.
Green People Intensive Repair Shampoo This was another sample from Naturisimo. I love Green People as a brand. They are pretty much as natural and cruelty free as it gets! This shampoo was a good match for my damaged hair, and the scent was fresh and pleasant. Repurchase? No. Empties | April 2013

Cowshed Udderly Gorgeous Bath & Shower Gel This was another TK Maxx bargain. It’s designed for pregnant women but hey, a bargain’s a bargain!! I really liked the scent at first but after a few weeks of use it started to irritate me.  Unfortunately I find that with most Cowshed products for some reason. Repurchase? No.
Korres Quince Body Butter Yet another TK Maxx find! This body butter smelt de-lic-ous, and using it made me want the infamous Korres Quince Lip Butter even more than I did before! This body butter was thick, luxurious and a little went a long way. Repurchase? Yes.
Forest Secrets iRejuvinate The Cream of Wonders Hand & Body Cream* This body cream is wonderful. That is all. For a complete review take a look at this Repurchase? Yes.

Korres Thyme Honey 24 Hour Moisturiser I got this from...you guessed it, TK Maxx! If you like the smell of honey, you’ll love this moisturiser. It smells good enough to eat! It’s designed for normal skin and mine tends to be on the oily side (who actually has ‘normal skin’??), but I still got on fine with this product. Infact it was ideal for the winter like weather we’ve still been having in Scotland! Repurchase? Yes, in the colder months.
LUSH Popcorn Lip Scrub That’s me gotten through another jar of this wonder scrub, and my love for it just grows and grows! To listen to me gush about this product take a look here Repurchase? Yes.
Oxygen Purifying Honey Mask I received this mask in this Amarya beauty box. It looks and feels a lot like honey, and my skin loved it. It’s tough to find a mask which hydrates your skin and also calms breakouts, but this mask does just that. Repurchase? Yes Empties | April 2013

Lavera Toothpaste Cruelty free, fluoride free, and it did everything I need a toothpaste to do. It didn’t have a strong minty taste as it isn’t stuffed full of flavouring, which is fine with me but might not be to everyone’s taste. Repurchase? Yes.
Superdrug Anti-Perspirant Deodorant I’ve spoken before about the difficulty of finding a cruelty free deodorant. I love the Dr Hauschka deodorants, but if the whole natural thing isn’t your cup of tea then this Superdrug deodorant is cruelty free, BUAV approved but looks, feels and behaves exactly like your standard Sure/Dove/Nivea type deodorants. Repurchase? Yes.
I’m so pleased that I’m finally starting to see more cruelty free products appear in my empties posts as I work my way through my animal tested products! Just high fived myself, oh yeah!
