Eatng Soft Ice Cream, Coney Island Queen

By Bigcitylittleblog @feakins

My friends and I live the New York life. We work hard, and we play hard. We’re in sales, marketing, design, advertising, hospitality and fashion: designing marketing collateral for celebrity chefs, running front desks at prominent hotels, buying ad space for major TV networks, and picking out clothes to sell at your favorite stores. So when the weekend rolls in, we want to party. Having said that, the sexy clubs and dive bars night after night can get tiresome.

This weekend,  mother nature  mapped out the perfect Saturday: 80s, sunny, no humidity, and a nice breeze. It was evident that we needed a change of scenery, and after some debate less than 5 minutes, we knew where we had to go.

Coney Island!

We hopped on the F train and headed towards Brooklyn. As a “Coney Island Virgin,” I wasn’t sure what to expect. Sure, I knew about the theme park and the beach, but I had no idea how accessible everything was. Let me be clear: you step off the train, walk across the street, and everything is right. there.

We each bought $35 worth of credits to Luna Park and spent hours on the rides just screaming and laughing. I felt like a kid again! After exhausting all the adult rides- The Soarin’ Eagle, Cycolne, and Air Race, just to name a few- we spent the rest of our credits on a skeeball competition. Alyssa and I were the Skeeball Champs- awarded with little stuffed Minions.

We snacked on Nathan’s Famous hot dogs and finished the day with “Easy Blonde” beer and warm funnel cakes dusted with powdered sugar.

Between the thrill of the rides, the indulgent fried food, and incredible company, this was truly one of the best days of my summer. Check out the rest of the pics here!
