Early Voting Is Up Sharply In Texas For First Two Days
The chart above uses the official figures from the office of the Texas Secretary of State. It shows the early voting totals in the largest 15 counties in Texas for Democrats voting in the first two days of early voting. The green bars shows what that total was in 2016, and the blue bars shows 2020 voting.
Note that the early voting totals for Democrats is up significantly for 2020 over 2016.Only one of these counties (Nueces) had a larger total for 2016, while the other 14 showed a significantly larger total (both mail-in and in-person voting combined) for 2020.
Is this just because people are voting earlier, or does it represent an increase in Democratic voting this year. We won't know until the totals are in for the March 3rd primary. But it looks good for Democrats right now.
NOTE -- More than 60% of the Texas population lives in these 15 counties.
