Due to the temperature rise, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat notified all public and private schools of the early summer holidays. The holiday will start on May 25 and last until May 31.
Parents were overwhelmingly in favor of starting summer vacation early. Details say that 96% of parents agreed with the government’s choice to keep kids safe during the extreme heat wave.
Rana Sikandar Hayat emphasized in a video message how important it is to put student health and safety first during the current heat wave. In addition, he said that 96% of parents wanted summer break to start this week.
“The health and safety of our students is our priority.” Because of the scorching weather, it is very important to take precautions to keep them safe, he said.
Schools that are giving tests have been granted conditional leave to stay open for tests only, as long as they take the right safety measures.
