Dulaang UP's Orosman at Zafira back for two shows at the National Theater Festival, CCP
The Cultural Center of the Philippines and Dulaang UP are bringing back the critically-acclaimed blockbuster production of Francisco Baltazar’s "Orosman at Zafira" for the 4th National Theater Festival this November at the CCP.
"Orosman's" scheduled performances are on November 17, 2012 (8 p.m.) and November 18, 2012 (3 p.m.) at Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (Little Theater).
This production, which first ran in 2008, was restaged in 2010 to sold-out, standing-room-only performances at the Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero Theater, UP Diliman and greeted with rave review. Directed and choreographed by Dexter M. Santos, with original music by Carol Bello, "Orosman" garnered nominations for both Best Musical Production and Best Stage Director at the 21st Aliw Awards.
Cast members who will be reprising their earlier roles include DelphineBuencamino (Zafira), Jay Gonzaga (Orosman), Roeder Camanag (Abdalap), Jean Judith Javier (Gulnara), Nazer Salcedo (Boulasem), Neil Tolentino (Mahamud), Ronnie Martinez (Ben-Asar) and Tao Aves (narrator). New additions include Ricky Ibe, Chuck Hipol and and Kierwin Larena.
"Orosman and Zafira" is a celebration not just of Philippine theater but of Pinoy talent. This staging is made possible by CCP and the Office of the President, University of the Philippines.
