The Dubois County Museum in Jasper, Indiana was more than an escape from the rain–it was probably some of the best two hours I’ve ever spent!
Look, there’s a lot of exciting and interesting Indiana history, especially in small towns! You know the feuds and the gossip and a county museum lets you in on all the secrets.
One story that sticks with me? The fire that destroyed a town–and one unlucky merchant who had let his insurance lapse just a few days before it and hadn’t gotten around to renewing it. The value of each particular store and its estimated loss is staggering.
