Surprise! Yes, I am actually reviewing drugstore products! In fact, this is going to be a regular series on my blog starting now. I'm sure you've noticed that I tend to mostly review high-end beauty products, but one of my New Year's resolutions was to start reviewing some more budget-friendly alternatives for you lovely makeup lovers. Just so you know, the reason I tend to not use a lot of drugstore products on myself is because over the years I've found that many include ingredients I prefer to avoid, they bother my sensitive skin, and they often do not perform as well as their high-end counterparts. I am not against drugstore products and I don't hate drugstore products. In fact, I've raved about Maybelline Full N Soft mascara here before--one of my favorite mascaras!
Anyway, on my Drugstore Friday posts I'll be reviewing anywhere from 1 to several drugstore products in one post. I'll probably focus on new products and tried-and-true products mostly, but who knows where this series will take me! Honestly, just purchasing items for this review nearly knocked me on the floor because I'd forgotten how economical drugstore makeup was--it's been a while!
Wet N Wild Color Icon Silent Treatment Trio
Wet N Wild Silent Treatment Trio - I've heard so many people rave about the Wet N Wild trios that I had to give one a shot! I chose Silent Treatment because I felt that with so many neutral palettes being released, I wanted to see if a small drugstore palette could compete. One of the things that I think is kind of neat regarding these trios is the fact that they label the shadows--a paint-by-number approach almost! Wet N Wild is one of those brands I have a nostalgic place in my heart for because it was the first drugstore brand I bought when I first started playing around with makeup (somewhere between 11-13).
The back of the Wet N Wild trios have a small diagram showing you where the brow, crease, and lid are in case you don't already know. Great new makeup newbies just beginning to learn the ropes!
Wet N Wild Silent Treatment Trio has a peachy-pink, shimmery nude for the browbone, a matte brown with golden flecks for the crease, and a shimmery purplish-taupe for the lid.
Browbone - This is a good highlighter color. I think it would work for either the brow or inner corner to be honest. The consistency is fairly soft, though a tad powdery. Not so powdery that it didn't stick though!
Crease - I was glad to see that the crease was matte, though it looks a tad shimmery in this picture--it wasn't in person. The little flecks of sparkle were actually quite complementary and overall it's a nice crease color. Of the three shadows in this trio, this was by far the hardest consistency-wise. It was not a soft shadow like the two lighter colors. The payoff wasn't bad and I tend to blend my crease color in fairly well anyway, but if you want a super pigmented crease color you may have to work a bit harder to get a dark effect using this shadow.
Eyelid - This color is almost a shimmery taupe with a slight purple hue. Of the three shadows this was the softest/smoothest. It was a teeny bit powdery, but not bad. To me, this had the best performance of the three.

You can purchase this trio anywhere that Wet N Wild is sold. Near me, I can only seem to find it at Walgreens. I know other drugstores often carry Wet N Wild, but the ones near me are seriously lacking!
Final Thoughts
I'm pleasantly surprised with this trio! The colors are incredibly comparable to other neutral palettes I own and have seen. For $2.99 I'd say this trio is great for anyone looking for some budget-friendly neutral shadows. As far as the ingredients go, they weren't listed on the trio, but from what I've seen of other Wet N Wild shadows they're comparable to other non-natural/non-mineral shadows out there. Wet N Wild is also a Cruelty-Free beauty company!

Black Black - I love a good black liner and to be honest, Wet N Wild pencil liners have always been one of my drugstore beauty secrets! These pencils are insanely cheap and often work as well if not better than some of the many high-end pencils I own. Who would have thought? ;)
The Wet N Wild Color Icon Brow & Eye pencils are said to be smooth, non-tugging, and creamy. They really are! I did a nice thin line on the left and then did a thick line that I smudged out on the right. I often smudge out my liner and I hate when pencils won't smudge. While this isn't as smudgeable as Too Faced Lava Gloss Matte liner (is there anything so wonderfully smudgy???), I think I could probably smudge and blend this to my liking! While these pencils aren't listed as waterproof, I actually had to use some makeup remover and really scrub to completely remove this pencil from my skin!

These pencils are priced at $.99 retail. $.99?!?! Yes!

These can be purchased anywhere Wet N Wild is sold. Again, the only place I can find it near me is at one of the Walgreens near me.
Final Thoughts
What can I say, for just under $1 these pencils are as good (if not better) than many of the high-end pencils out there in my opinion. I have been using Wet N Wild eyeliners for over 14 years ... oh my gosh that's so wrong! They're much creamier than they were back when I was a teen, though they were still great. As far as ingredients go, they're comparable to other non-natural eyeliners.
Rimmel Stir It Up Eye Shadow
Rimmel London Stir It Up Eyeshadow - Isn't this interesting looking? I saw it when I was poking through everything and had to grab it.
Rimmel London Stir It Up Out of the Blue Swatch - Oh my gosh! This was a huge surprise. I wondered why the color was called Out of the Blue and now I know! It skews a tad more green in this picture than it is in person, but it is definitely multidimensional color-wise. The other surprise was the consistency of this eyeshadow. It was insanely creamy! In fact, it was all cream and no powder. I liked it! I'm curious as to how this will wear since cream shadows can be touch and go if they're not really great performance-wise, but I'm hopeful!

I purchased this on sale for around $1.50, but it seems as though these sell for around $8 at other online retails such as Amazon.
Where to Buy
I purchased mine at Walgreens, but it was on sale and the last one left so I'm not sure if you can still find this anywhere other than online. If you want one of these shadows then definitely pop into your local drugstores or superstores and see if they have a few left.
Final Thoughts
This was a huge surprise and I'm so glad I grabbed it! I'm interested to wear this for an entire day and see how it wears, but at first glance this is gorgeous! If you can find it, get it.
Drugstore Success or Failure
I'd say this drugstore Friday was a success! I was pretty impressed with everything I grabbed and would definitely consider trying other shades in all of these products. And let's be serious, you can't beat these prices!
