Drew Barrymore is a first-time mom!
The actress and husband, Will Kopelman welcomed their first baby on Wednesday. “We are proud to announce the birth of our daughter, Olive Barrymore Kopelman, born September 26th, healthy, happy and welcomed by the whole family. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this most special time in our lives,” the couple made a statement.
The ‘Charlie’s Angels’ star, 37, had kept quiet about her pregnancy, although the rumours began spreading in February. The June bride exchanged wedding bands with art dealer Kopelman, 34, in a Jewish ceremony at their estate in Montecito, Southern California.
The former child actress of E.T said on the Tonight Show earlier this year (before words about her pregnancy spread) that she definitely wanted to start a family with Kopelman.
“We’ll start with one,” she said. “See how it goes and if we could be so blessed…that would be wonderful.”
Recently the actress said “I can’t wait until I have my children”, referring indirectly to her pregnancy. “I just want to build fun, great things for my family.”
In recent weeks, Barrymore had been spotted attending pre-natal yoga classes and spending time with Kopelman’s parents, who were in town ahead of the birth.
Though unclear about the specific inspiration, it is believed that Barrymore named her daughter – Olive Barrymore Kopelman after the character Oliver in a 1999 TV special ‘Olive, the Other Reindeer’, she had voiced.
Will Kopelman had proposed to ‘The Wedding Singer’ star with a 4-carat radiant cut diamond engagement ring when they were holidaying in Sun Valley, Idaho, though they announced their engagement much later in January 2012.
