«Our story began nearly a decade before our wedding day. We met right out of college in my home state of California, and after a year of long distance, I relocated to join Sebastian in Europe. From our very first date on a Santa Cruz beach to the years that followed exploring Europe, watching sunsets became a staple of our life together. So, it was only natural that our engagement take place at sunset. The proposal was an intimate, private moment. No cameras; no bystanders; just us, Santorini, the Aegean, and the sun sinking into it. », the bride shared with us.
«We chose an array of colorful blooms to mirror a warm summer sunset. Roses were selected as the predominant flower, honoring the flower’s title as the symbol of love. These were enriched with hydrangeas, lysianthus, wisteria, buttercups, and other seasonal foliage.»
«For our ceremony, we opted for a swell of six potted floral arrangements so to frame the large space and not to obstruct the naturally beautiful backdrop. Our reception had the same sunset-toned floral arrangements. The sweetheart table was a vibrant masterpiece, covered in lavish blooms and accented with blue fabric drapery and tall, slender candles. We also hung white wisteria from the pergola by the dance floor to enhance the enchanted summer garden feel of the evening. »

«Our first look was my favorite moment. We were both so excited to see each other and still also nervous about the ceremony and the events still to come. But during these few minutes we were able to focus only on each other, bask in the beauty of the moment, and just hold and laugh with one another. »
The bride’s advice: «I would have two pieces of advice: 1. Your wedding should be a reflection of you, your partner, and your unique love story. So be bold with your vision – celebrate your love the way you want to. If you find yourself entering the wedding planning process unsure of what you want, sit with that discomfort for a while and take the time to really reflect on who you and your partner are and what it is that you enjoy. If not on your own, then with some help from the many professional venders in the wedding business, you will eventually find the wedding vision of your dreams. And then turn that into a reality. 2. Come the day of your wedding, no matter the amount of planning, stress, etc. that you did leading up to the wedding – let it go.»
As a very involved and very detail oriented bride, the best thing I did for myself on my wedding day was to surrender to the day. What happened, happened – and I embraced it, smiled, and let it be. Did every detail of our wedding go according to plan? No, but the day in its entirety was still the most perfect it could have been.
