Dog Travels Hundreds of Miles to Reach Owner

Dog Travels Hundreds of Miles to Reach OwnerHundreds of miles of space between a dog named “Bucky,” and his person, named “Mark Wessells,” were not enough to keep the pair apart.

Back in January, Wessells left Bucky with his father in Virginia because he was unable to keep him at his Myrtle Beach, S.C. home which was some 500 miles away.

Not long after moving away, Wessell’s father notified him that Bucky had disappeared…

Days, weeks and months passed – those who knew the faithful dog assumed that he was gone forever.

But Bucky somehow managed to reunite with his person – thanks to an uncanny sense of smell and the microchip which was implanted in his neck.

Just two weeks ago, Bucky was taken in by a family who found the wandering Labrador, and took him to a vet in Myrtle Beach where a microchip was discovered.

Information on the chip led Bucky back to his person who was, rightfully so, astounded.

Wessells stated:

“I thought I was going to cry, but I didn’t. He definitely recognized me instantly,”

“It’s just crazy he made it down here on his own. You know it’s like Homeward Bound is what I’m thinking.”

The veterinarian at the clinic who scanned Bucky chalks the miraculous reunion up to uncanny canine senses, stating:

“He must’ve found his way back because animals have an amazing sense of smell and direction,”

On Friday, the destined friends were back together again, right where they belong.
