Early this month, the city of Palm Springs recently celebrated the “Forever Marilyn” statute, featuring a 26-foot-tall statue of the Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe, by hosting the first Marilyn look-alike contest at VillageFest in downtown.

With contestants ranging from various ages and sizes, one in particular stood out: a Golden Doodle named Wego  was dressed like Marilyn Monroe by his owner Frank Sero from Palm Springs and San Diego.

The Judging of the contestants were based on look, attire, personality, presentation, audience participation and overall Marilyn look and feel. Performances were also judged on their show and reaction from judges' and audience members, with options of live or lip-syncing.

The “Forever Marilyn,” statue is owned by the Santa Monica-based Foundation will remain in Palm Springs until early September, according to the city and P.S. Resorts, a nonprofit organization that was started by local hotels in Palm Springs to promote tourism.  “This is very exciting news for Palm Springs and the entire Coachella Valley, and the goal is to create even more events during the additional time Marilyn is here,'' said Aftab Dada, chairman of P.S. Resorts, which organized and helped fund the installation of ``Forever Marilyn,” reports kesq.com. SOURCES: voices.mydesert.com | kesq.com | Palm Springs Life | visitpalmsprings.com
