DIY - Bed Canopy

By Savoir_style @Savoir_Style
This is probably only my 2nd DIY Post on this blog. As much as I would like to keep trying new things, there are a lot of constraints and one of the biggest constraint for all of us is time. I like to make things that don't consume much of my time and Pinterest comes in handy on such occasions.
I wanted my 7 month old daughter (I'll just call her Minnie here) to like her crib. I have been debating a lot of options from a crib mobile, sleep soothers to crib canopy. After weighing in the pros and cons of each of these options and the safety factor, I zeroed in on a crib canopy.
Here is what you would need to make the Canopy (Click on the images for product details)

Steps

Unscrew a plastic 10-inch embroidery hoop and slide the sheer curtain panels onto the outer hoop. (Length should be at least 84"). Take two 12 inch lengths of the ribbon and tie one end of each (with a double knot) onto the inner hoop at the gaps between the curtains. Tie the ribbons together in a bow. Stick the adhesive hooks (or use a pot-rack hook) into the ceiling. Slip the center of the bow over the hook to hang. That's it. The Canopy is ready.

Pinterest and Internet have much to offer in terms of DIY Projects to Semi-DIY Projects that are quick and easy to execute. Here are 5 of my favorite DIY Bed Canopy Projects/

This the easiest DIY I have attempted so far, Minnie didn't show an interest in it initially but when she realized she could play peek-a-boo with the curtains, she was much more excited. The problem is that playing with the canopy is her favorite pastime now. As much as we wanted the crib to be her favorite new place, it has become even more difficult to put her to sleep in it. I do try! :)
Here's the end result

Don't wait for a crib to give this project a try. You can add a canopy to your bed to add that element of drama and romance to your bedroom.
