Disinfecting at Auschwitz

By Gldmeier @gldmeier
I get that it might be necessary to help prevent the spread of the CoronaVirus, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, along with a provocative headline.
Disinfecting at AuschwitzThe entrance to the Auschwitz concentration camp memorial museum now has a disinfectant station installed there. Anyone wishing to enter must undergo a cleansing to be disinfected.
From what I can gather, nobody needs to stand there naked and be blasted with a high-pressure stream of water. Rather, you walk through an electronic gate, sort of like when going through airport security, or to enter a mall, but this gate is not a metal detector. Instead of dinging at the loose change in your pocket it exterminates whatever germs might be on the person.
The Auschwitz Museum issued a statement that they are proud to be the first museum in the world to implement this new innovation, at a time when tourism is struggling, to ensure the security and health of the visitors and workers. This will be an important step toward the reopening of the museum.

Way to go Auschwitz. It makes sense and seems totally perfect that they were the first to put this idea into effect...
