As Detective Sergeant Jamie Brooke copes with the daily pain of watching her daughter suffer through her last days, she is assigned to a macabre murder case. The mutilated body of a young heiress is found within the London Royal College of Surgeons surrounded by medical specimen jars.

An antique Anatomical Venus figurine is discovered beside the body and Jamie enlists the help of British Museum researcher, Blake Daniel, to look into its past.

When personal tragedy strikes, Jamie has nothing left to lose and she must race against time to stop the mysterious Lyceum before they claim another victim.

As Jamie and Blake delve into a macabre world of grave robbery, body modification, and the genetic engineering of monsters, they must fight to keep their sanity - and their lives.

A story of vengeance and a passion for justice, a psychological thriller with an edge of the supernatural.

I've become a huge fan of the author over the past few months and have quite a lot of books in her back catalogue to read. I'm very much looking forward to it. Blake has psychic abilities and it took a couple of examples of him using his powers to stop rolling my eyes. This isn't down to the author's skill or writing style which are excellent but my cynicism. This is different than other books I've read from her ARKANE series. Desecration is an excellent thriller with supernatural elements, fast paced, full of twists and turns and quite addictive. I loved how well written the characters are and how quickly we get to know them. I felt Jamie's pain as she waits for her daughter to stop fighting, I felt her pain and sorrow and love. I also felt Blake's torment as a result of his visions. This was a great book.
