Steve Scales of Louisiana is the third most powerful Republican in the House of Representatives, serving as the House Majority Whip. That has turned out to be a fairly big embarrassment for the Republicans though -- because it was revealed that he knowingly appeared at, and spoke to, a gathering of white supremacists. At a time when some Republicans (like presidential hopeful Rand Paul) are trying to reach out to minorities, this just makes it clear that not only does the Republican Party house a lot of racists, they are willing to give them leadership positions in the party.
Scalise has tried to claim he didn't know the group favored white supremacy, but that claim is ludicrous. Republicans in the House are supporting Scalise, including Speaker John Boehner, although it leaves them red-faced and clutching at straws in their attempt to portray Scales (and their party) as not being racists.
Now another voice has spoken up on behalf of Scalise -- noted racist and failed presidential candidate David Duke (pictured above). Duke is a life-long white supremacist, and he's angry that white supremacism is being used as a bludgeon against Scalise. Duke says if people don't back off and leave the Republican leader alone, he will expose many more politicians (both Republicans and Democrats) who have buddied up to Duke and his racist friends.
I just have one thing to say to that. DO IT!!! Please release the names of all the politicians, regardless of which party they are in, who pose as decent Americans while conniving with racists behind our backs. I want to know, and the American people deserve to know who these cretins are.
You made the threat, Duke -- now follow through with it (if you have enough guts).
