Danish Pastry Buns

A lot of my friends buy the frozen pastry, but I think that the best pastry is the one made by me, at home and from my ingredients. When you learn how to make it, the rest goes easy and quickly. You choose the stuffing and the taste or it can be empty and originally shaped. This time I have made danish pastry buns with salty cottage cheese stuffing and it came out very good and tasty. Just like from the baker’s shop – my mother in law said

Danish Pastry Buns

Ingredients for the pastry

  • 4 cups of flour
  • 2 tsp of yeast
  • 3 tsp of sugar
  • 2 tsp of salt
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup of oil
  • 1 cup of butter

Danish Pastry Buns

Method

Warm up 1 cup of milk (not to be hot), add yeast, sugar and some flour. Stir it a little bit and leave it to rest for 10 minutes. Add another cup of warm milk, flour as it takes, salt and knead it for a few minutes hard and add oil occasionally and knead until the dough takes in the oil. Leave the dough to double itself for a half an hour. Roll out the dough on the working surface and cream the half with a little butter (room temperature), then fold the dough and cream again with butter and do this repeatedly until you have butter. Now cut the squares of dough and try to make what I did (see the GIF).

Make the stuffing

Mix 2 cups of cottage cheese with 1 egg and 1 tsp of salt.

Make the Danish pastry buns with salty  cottage cheese stuffing and brush every bun with egg yolk and sprinkle it with a little salt. Bake it in the preheated oven on 400 F degrees until it gets nice color.
