Looking at the faery boy in front of me, with his exquisite features and striking eyes, I thought that Grandma had been right. I was realising she had been right about a lot of things. I wished I’d listened to her better, wished I’d believed her when she warned me about the Fair Folk.
Staring into those inhumanly bright eyes, seeing the glitter of something cruel beneath that prettiness, I whimpered. I didn’t mean to, and the second I did, I wished I hadn’t. I couldn’t show fear there, or the beautiful monsters would tear me apart like well-disguised lions.

This book was a fun read with a richly imagined mythos.  Lucy is a likable heroine who is kidnapped and taken to the Otherworld (Land of Fae) by Fin, a new kid at her school who definitely is more than he seems.  Lucy finds out that her best friend Ryan whom she has known for years is more than he seems, as well. Both young men have been compelled to deliver Lucy to their respective leaders.  Her whole life view changes as she learns the reasons for her abduction. She and Fin encounter many dangers as they journey to the Summer Palace and Lucy hesitantly trusts Fin to keep her safe. 

This is the first installment of what promises to be an exciting new series.The writing is crisp and descriptive. The Otherworld is full of magic and mystery in which peril awaits the unwary.The author does a wonderful job setting up the characters and unveiling Lucy’s unique heritage, but I was disappointed with the abrupt ending that I suppose will be continued in the next book.I received this book through the Amazon Kindle Unlimited program.
