Currently Reading: The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

I am beyond excited about all of the new YA novels set to come out as movies this year. A lot of them I haven't read and don't really know anything about, with today's topic being one of them. I started reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower just last night, and I am loving it so far! I had no idea what it was about going into it and I haven't even watched the trailer for the movie yet, but I can't wait to see it.
BOOK
Currently Reading: The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky GoodReads Synopsis:
Standing on the fringes of life offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor. This haunting novel about the dilemma of passivity vs. passion has become a modern classic.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is the story of what it’s like to grow up in high school. More intimate than a diary, Charlie’s letters are singular and unique, hilarious and devastating. We may not know where he lives or to whom he is writing. All we know is the world he shares. Caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it puts him on a strange course through uncharted territory. The world of first dates and mixed tapes, family dramas and new friends. The world of sex, drugs, and music—when all one requires to feel infinite is that perfect song on that perfect drive.
Through Charlie, Stephen Chbosky has created a deeply affecting story, a powerful novel that will spirit you back to those wild and poignant roller coaster days known as growing up.

THOUGHTS
Like I said, so far I'm really enjoying this book. I can't really tell you too much because that would kind of defeat the point of reviewing it later, but I can already say I'd recommend it to pretty much anyone. The more contemporary novels I read, the more I'm getting obsessed with them. I think that they are going to play a major part in my reading throughout 2013 and with Emma Watson being cast in this movie, there's no way it could go wrong. I'm on a book to movie reading kick right now which will probably continue for a while until I'm all caught up. There are still a LOT of titles coming out soon that I still haven't so much as read the synopsis for (Unwind, Legend, Divergent, the list goes on...) but if it's YA I'm going to read it. Some sub genres have really surprised me since I started my YA journey a year go (12 more days til my very first blogoversary!!) so I'm looking forward to broadening that horizon even more.
AND THENNN... If there are any super fabulous book to movie adaptations that you'd like to recommend, go for it. At this time I am ONLY reading YA since there's just so many to catch up on, but I will gladly take recommendations for the future. I've recently read Warm Bodies and Beautiful Creatures so those reviews will both be up within the next week or so. I'm spending the next few hours catching up so hopefully I'll have a clean review slate by the time I go to bed. I don't know if this will be an ongoing feature or if I just post it when I'm finding the book I'm reading extremely interesting, but there will be a book vs movie feature eventually. I need to actually read and watch enough to have a nice schedule to build first. I'm working on it though!
