Crockety Kalimpong Architectural Marvel Kalimpong is situated about 51 kms away from Darjeeling and approximately 621 kms away from Kolkata, West Bengal that is at an altitude of around 1250 meters. The city exhibits unique cultures and activities which makes the place even more interesting. 
Kalimpong is right on the edge of the beautiful river Teesta. Once you visit the town, you will be able to witness the modern as well as the heritage spots. The city also serves you with its exquisite wildlife (Neora National Park) and beautiful landscapes besides being apt place for the adventure seekers. Kalimpong sweeps most of its fame for being the best place to shop as here you can find Tibetan ornaments, handicrafts, copper items, clothing, household artifacts etc. The lush green forests, tea estates, Galingka, Teesta Bazaar, Crockety are the most famous attractions of Kalimpong which makes it the most amazing place. CROCKETY Situated to the northern part of the city of Kalimpong, Crockety is an amazing architectural marvel which was built in the 18th century by the Wool traders of Britain (British). During the British rule in India, the Crockety was one amongst the many colonial bungalows of British.  The most attention grabbing part of the Crockety is its extravagant architecture which gives a royal look to the entire cottage. The wider corridors, lavish halls, beautiful artifacts on the walls, exquisite ceilings, beautiful lamps, well decorated rooms and stunning surroundings make the mansion one amongst the famous attractions of the city. Even today this extravagant mansion is exhibiting the excellent British architectural framework.  Although the British constructed many bungalows in India but it is this mansion which stands unique from the others and it is because of this very reason that it has become a major attraction amongst the tourists all over the world.   Towards the backside of this majestic mansion you can find the house of a world famous poet Rabindranath Tagore and it was here that he broadcasted his creative piece of poetry “the Janmadin” on all India radio that is on his birthday.  The mansion is open on all days for the public and so you can visit the mansion in the visiting hours thereby being an apt place for people of all ages. BEST TIME TO VISIT The best time to visit Kalimpong is in the months from March to May as it is during this time that Kalimpong has Summers with a temperature around 30 degrees resulting in making the place the most appropriate to be visited in Summers.  The Winter occur from December to February and it becomes really cold at times as the temperature ranges from subzero to 15 degrees, so do not forget your warm clothes if you are planning to visit at this course of time. However it is not advisable to visit the place in the monsoons which occurs in the months from June to September as it is during this time that landslides block the roads.
