Cricket Fans Rejoice as Jasprit Bumrah Set for Long-Awaited Comeback

Posted on the 27 July 2023 by Makably

All eyes are on Jasprit Bumrah as he gears up to take charge of India’s pace attack during the upcoming three T20 internationals in Ireland, scheduled for August 18, 20, and 23. The squad selection is just around the corner, and the cricket fraternity eagerly awaits Bumrah’s inclusion.

Following his back surgery in March, Bumrah has been on the sidelines since the T20I series against Australia at home last September. The original timeline projected his return for the Asia Cup starting on August 30, but recent developments have signaled a quicker recovery.

Notably, the BCCI confirmed that Bumrah is back to bowling at “full intensity” during net sessions, indicating a positive progression in his rehabilitation efforts since April.

A trip down memory lane takes us back to Bumrah’s previous visit to Ireland in 2018, where an unfortunate left thumb fracture forced him to miss a significant portion of the England tour that year.

As India gears up for the 2023 ODI World Cup, Bumrah’s imminent return is a shot in the arm for the team’s preparations. Additionally, Mohammed Shami’s expected comeback during the Asia Cup after a well-deserved rest post the World Test Championship final in June further bolsters India’s fast bowling firepower. With Bumrah and Shami in prime form, India’s pace attack looks formidable, setting the stage for an exciting run of global events ahead.
