Cool Ways to Wear Tweed Blazers this Fall

Tweed blazers are trendy again this fall. They can make excellent additions to a wardrobe...if they are worn right. If worn wrong, they can look like something that a stuffy 90 year old one percenter would wear to a luncheon. If worn right, they can look cool, modern and updated. In today's post, I am going to show you some unstuffy, unfrumpy ways to wear tweed blazers.

The first, and easiest, way to make tweed blazers look cool and hip is to wear them with jeans. Not only do jeans add an edge that balances out the more traditional look of a tweed blazer, jeans are an easy way to take a tweed blazer from work to weekend.

Instead of a classic blazer, try tweed styles that are a bit more modern, like this moto style from Ted Baker. Additionally, choose finishing pieces that a bit funkier or updated to make tweed jackets look less traditional. I styled this tweed style with AG jeans, a basic crew neck pullover from Theory, slouchy boots in burgundy from Sole Society, Stella & Dot fringe necklace and drawstring bag from Steven Alan.

Another way to wear tweed blazers this fall is with a clean, column of modern pieces. Tweed blazers can be fussy, but the sharp, modern lines can dilute that fussiness to create a more updated look.

I styled this tweed blazer from Halogen with a pair of black bootcut pants from Banana republic, high neck flutter sleeve top from Reiss, black bag from Rebecca Minkoff, black earrings from Bauble Bar and gilded bracelet from Stella & Dot. For a pop of color, I used these block heeled pumps in red from 1.State.

Try pairing tweed blazers with pieces like leather. The juxtaposition of these two types of pieces create a middle ground of not being too traditional or too fast.

I styled this blue/black Rebecca Taylor tweed blazer with a burgundy leather skirt and Elie Tahari tank, and finished the look with a pair of black boots from Nine West, a black bag from Urban Originals, silver earrings from Ralph Lauren and opaque tights from Commando.
