Everyone I spoke with while wandering Converse, Indiana mentioned that I had to check out Antiques, Collectibles, and Gifts just down the street.

Located right downtown, the mission-style home turned antique shop was easy to find–and has a fantastic and varied selection!

The entire first floor of Antiques, Collectibles, and Gifts is covered in things. From gorgeous glass to jewelry, teacups and brooches to vintage kitchen utensils and even furniture, I think they’ve covered all the bases!

I know that hubs and I saw something we’d never seen before: a set of hunting glasses. Purchased from an estate sale, the owner thought she was unpacking broken bells.

She learned that back in the day, when you were thirsty during the hunt, you needed to be able to drink in style while on the go–well, Antiques, Collectibles, and Gifts have a complete set.

The cup actually turns upside-down, so you can set it down if need be. Isn’t that neat?

This Grant County antique shop has more than a great selection (and super nice owners), it has an excellent story!

You may have heard the name “Dillinger” before–at least, you have if you have spent any length of time in Indiana, right? He was an Indiana man responsible for robbing a slew of banks before his capture.

You see, the home turned Antiques, Collectibles, and Gifts was once a boarding house. Dillinger and a pal rented a room there and kindly took the landlady out shopping.

When she was done, they apologized for their abrupt departure but stated that they had business to attend to and had to cut their trip short. They left. She later discovered their real identity in the paper–and realized that when they dropped her off so she could shop, that they had robbed the bank, returned to pick her up, and took her home before leaving town!

Can you imagine the shock that must have been? She repeatedly said that they were so polite.

Antiques, Collectibles, and Gifts is in the process of expanding! A building across the street is currently undergoing renovation in order to house primitives and folk pieces.

How fun is that? I love to see a small business expanding–what a boon for the cute and friendly town of Converse!
