The world is warming.
Lydia is unsettled in her New York life. She takes herself away to Greece, secure in the belief that her much-older partner Tom will be there on her return. This is a new author for me and my first book from a Subscription Box I took out with the London Review of Books bookshop because I want to read more physical books and want to spend money somewhere that isn't Amazon. I had no idea what to expect as I didn't know in advance what book I was getting so I had zero expectations. I knew I was going to enjoy Cold New Climate when I held it in my hands. I loved the feel of the cover and the creamy paper. I got engrossed in the book after a few lines and it didn't let go until I reached the end. I really loved this book which looks at relationships, both conventional and unconventional, love and life with the pandemic and climate change as a sparsely mentioned backdrop. I fell in love with Lydia, Caleb and Tom and the mess they find themselves in. There's something really gorgeous about the author's style as well. I loved this book. I can't wait to see what I'm sent in May.
