Clark After Dark: Summer’s Last “Hooh-Ah!”

By Urbanmatter Chicago @UMatterChicago

Out of all the festivals we cover on Chicago Genie (believe me, there are a LOT), none of them have an impact on as many service men and women or their families as Clark After Dark. We have soldiers fighting every day so that we can even attend events like this, which is why we can’t stress enough how happy we are to lend our support to the USO of Illinois for this River North celebration.

What to Expect

Basically, Clark after Dark is a huge block party right in the heart of River North. This means live music performances from Chicago’s top cover band, 16 Candles, and Liquidated Damages. Plus, food and drink specials, a raffle, and (hopefully) beautiful weather.

How Does It Benefit Our Troops?

With a suggested donation of $10, the proceeds benefit the USO of Illinois, a non-profit organization fully supported by the generosity of the American people. Their programs serve over 330,000 military personnel and their families in Illinois.

Want to donate more? You could buy an exclusive VIP ticket online for $100 and enjoy some extra food & drink, volunteer for this or their other events, or make a donation. All of the charity’s information on getting involved is available on their official site.

When and Where Is it?

Clark After Dark takes place on Thursday, August 20th from 4pm-10pm on Hubbard Street between Clark & LaSalle.

What Should I Wear?

Red, white, and blue, baby! If you’d rather not go with that, camouflage or any other sort of military support clothing is also recommended.

Can I Park Nearby?

Of course. One of our featured garages, Mart Parc Wells, is so close that they may as well be hosting the event. It’s on Hubbard, (just like the fest) on the west side of LaSalle, basically across the street.

Your best bet is probably the $10 Night Life Special, which goes from 3pm to 3am the next morning. That will leave you plenty of time to spare to show up early and stay out as late as you’d like.
