Children’s ACCUDIAL

By Bgme @babygearmom

A new study by the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology shows even small overdoses of acetaminophen over time can be deadly.  Too much can eventually cause serious liver damage, among other issues.

And, studies also show, more than half of parents give their children inaccurate doses*. It can boil down a number of reasons including reading the label wrong, dosage confusion or perhaps your child is small for their age.

I thought the ACCUDIAL Oral Suspension system was a smart find.  Dosage is based not on your child’s age, but on their weight. The acetaminophen comes in a standard bottle just like you’d find in the pharmacy. But it’s the label that sets it apart.

It has a two layer label system, where you can twist and line up your child’s weight. It will give you the recommended single dose for children who weigh between 12 and 95 pounds (recommended for ages 6 months+).  My kids tend to be on the small side, so I was pretty impressed that something like this can be customized so closely.  The label also includes the traditional dosage by age.

The ACCUDIAL comes with a plastic bottle adapter, that acts like a stopper for the top of the bottle.  This adapter has a hole where you can insert the enclosed syringe. Once inserted, turn the bottle upside down, so you can fill the syringe accordingly. It’s mess free too.   There’s also a traditional dosage spoon option if you prefer.

Make sure you hold the base or head of the bottle to allow the labels to twist.  If it sticks a little, move the label up and down and then twist away.  ACCUDIAL is also available for other ailments like cold and allergies; $9 to $11 depending where you buy. Learn more at www.accuratedose.com.
