On Sunday, May 18th at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, celebrities came out to celebrate the presentation of the Billboard Music Awards. The awards ceremony started in 1989 and are based on musical artist popularity on the Billboard Charts in the musical industry. This year, the Artist of the Year was Justin Timberlake and the Song of the Year went to Robin Thicke for “Blurred Lines”.
As with any event, the red carpet at the Billboard Music Awards was filled with fashion Some of the celebrity outfits were fabulous and some, not so much First is Singer/Song Writer/Actress/TV Personality Kelly Roland, who arrived on the red carpet in this sexy, two piece black number with a beyond-plunging crop top and split-panel, high-waisted long skirt Kelly’s stacked golden bangles and substantial dangle earrings give the overall look an exotic flare However, there should be no bending over in this dress.
Next, is Spanish football player Gerard Pique and singer/ dancer Shakira who look elegant together as they paused on the red carpet. Gerard’s choice of a simple, well-tailored black suit with slim pant legs and straight tie is the perfect compliment to Shakira’s geometric snake print, iridescent blue dress that hugs her curves and shows just enough skin with the sheer side panels and sleeves.
Another celebrity who rocked the Billboard Music Award’s red carpet in iridescent blue is Sarah Hyland from the hit TV show “Modern Family”. The patterned striping in her cropped jacket and short pencil skirt are just the right amount of shine mixed with color. The black trim and the golden zippers really make the outfit modern and make the details pop. Also, I love the metallic, ankle tie heels and simple black clutch.
In the “not so fabulous” category were Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart. My first impression is a clash of two old TV shows: “I love Lucy” and “I Dream of Jeannie”. Casper reminds me of Ricky Ricardo in his completely plaid suit and Jennifer reminds me of Barbara Eden as Jeannie with her bathing suit style bottom and he sheer overflowing dress panels. They are usually a very stylish couple, just not this time.
