Casey Anthony Might Go to Jail for Lying to Police

Casey Anthony

Casey Anthony was acquitted of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, in 2011.  Her daughter had gone “missing” in 2008.  Casey had falsely told authorities that her daughter was kidnapped by a nanny named Zenaida Gonzalez.  This proved to be false.  Caylee’s body was subsequently found; thus starting the most closely followed trial since the O.J Simpson case.

Casey was found not guilty, because a jury of her peers didn’t think there was enough evidence to confidently state that she had in fact killed her daughter “without a reasonable doubt.”  In the matter of public opinion she was very much found guilty.  I too thought she probably killed her daughter.  However, I was part of the minority that believed there wasn’t enough physical evidence (that was presented during the trial) to convict her.  My opinion of course was, and still is, vastly unpopular.  AGAIN, I think she probably killed her daughter.  I just don’t think there was enough evidence to convict her in the criminal court.

Prosecutors are trying to ascertain if Casey was in police custody when she made her statements, because if so they would be inadmissible.  Casey had not been read her Miranda rights.

Anthony has kept a relatively low profile since her 2011 acquittal.  Casey is also facing a civil lawsuit from a woman named Zenaida Gonzalez.  Gonzalez claims that she lost her job because of Casey’s lies.  That trial is set to begin in the spring.

So what do you think?

Did you think she was guilty and do you think she should have been convicted?
