Carnaval is mostly well-known in Brazil, but it’s origins come from Portugal. Carnaval Portugal is a week-long celebration, where large cities decorate the streets in streamers and bright colors, holding parades with festive music, endless indulgent food, and ornate costumes. One day I’d love to experience this over the top party down south, and oversees but until then I’ll celebrate by indulging in these cookies.
Maybe next year, I’ll have a small get together with friends and pull together a colorful tablescape like this one. And although, purple, gold and green are the authentic colors of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Carnaval in Portugal is all about bold rich colors, and having a great indulgent time.
