Cantering Across Salisbury! :D

By Kc2610 @kc2610
I had the nicest afternoon yesterday. A friend invited me to go hacking with her up on the Salisbury Plains, so I took Julius for a little day out.
Her yard was absolutely stunning and Julius was loving the huge stable with a window and being able to see all the other horses around him. As it is an eventing yard there were lots of jumps set up in the outdoor arena, so I took him over some jumps before we left for our hack which was also quite fun :) They though I was mad for jumping in my dressage saddle but I don't have anything else, I just make do!
The hack was absolutely amazing, we were cantering up big hills and trotting across fields for as far as we could see. We just looked out over all of Wiltshire which looked beautiful with the sun shining. I often drive past big fields with nice hills and think "wow, it would be awesome to just gallop across there..." Well now I have!
I have never heard Julius pant before until then, and I'm sure he is going to be quite sore today! It just goes to show how good it can be for their fitness. If only I had access to that once a week and someone to go with... Any offers?! :P
It was exactly what I needed at this time, as the stress levels are quite high with internationals coming up with Seb, Addington CDI being the first one next weekend. I feel nice and refreshed now though so it was perfect :)
