Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Oil Review

By Kwilliford @ExquisiteEczema
I have been on a skincare binge recently. It is actually a little insane. Needless to say, I have been trying out a lot of products, including this amazing new cleansing oil.

Burt's Bees recently added two new products to their skincare line: this cleansing oil as well as a facial water.  I don't have the facial water as I already have three that I am using. Yet I thought it was perfectly acceptable to buy another cleanser. I swear, the logic of a beauty blogger makes absolutely no sense sometimes. Anyways, moving on.
I have been testing this cleansing oil out for a little over a week, and I gotta say that I am impressed. More than impressed, actually. It is the bomb.com. Yeah, I said it. And I'm not sorry.
It designed for normal to dry skin, but it works great with my oily skin because it leaves behind no grease, and it has not made my face break out. It is 100% natural, and it has nourishing/hydrating argan and coconut oils.  The claims that Burt's Bees makes regarding this facial oil are (per their site):
Cleanses without leaving an oily residue
• Clinically proven to remove dirt and makeup
• Leaves skin soft, smooth, and feeling hydrated
• Noncomedogenic
• Dermatologist Tested
• Ophthalmologist Tested

Oh, and there is no mineral oil! How awesome is that? Which may explain the more watery texture.

In my experience with this stuff, all of it is true. It makes one heck of a makeup remover, just maybe not for the eyes.  I used it to take off some eyeshadow, and it did sting a little. Nothing too crazy, but something to be mindful of.

I wear primer, foundation, concealer, and highlighter most days. This cleansing oil takes it right off. 99% of the time, it gets ALL of it off. There have been a few times where some makeup comes off after going over my face with a toner or cleansing water. But that is a rare occurrence. 99% of the time the cotton pad is clear (as shown below). I use about half of a pump, apply it to my dry skin and massage it in for a minute or so.  Then I use lukewarm water and a microfiber cloth to remove it. I am left with no gross, greasy feeling. My skin feels soft, smooth, and clean.  Most nights I double cleanse out of habit. I use the oil to remove my makeup, then use a cleanser.  But with this, it is nice to know I don't have to go through that process if I don't feel like it or  don't have time.

The texture of this cleansing oil is a little different than others I have tried. It has the texture of straight water.  It is very liquid-y and doesn't even feel like an oil.  By no means is this a bad thing. It just took me off guard at first. There is an herbal, plant-like scent.  I find it rather pleasant and relaxing. Others may not, so that is something to keep in mind. Another point to keep in mind is that one pump dispenses a lot of product, as in way more than you should need.  Keeping that in mind, it should last you a fair amount of time.  It is a bit pricey for a drugstore cleanser, ($16.99), but it is really good stuff.  I got mine at Ulta, but I have also seen it at Target. It should also be at drugstores and Wal-Mart.  I absolutely think this is worth checking out. I am glad I got it, My skin feels cleaner and more smooth at the end of the day.
