Burlap Door Hanger

Burlap Door Hanger
I made this door hanger several months ago and I’m just now getting around to writing the post! My parent’s door didn’t have anything on it and I thought this would be the perfect addition to get them through spring and summer.
This is one of those really easy projects. Al you need is burlap, paint, hot glue, wire, and shopping bags. I used a Cricut for the letters but you could always print them off of the computer and cut them out with an xacto knife.

I just free handed the shape I wanted on the fold of the burlap. You will need TWO pieces because we will stuff it to give it dimension. Get as creative as you want with the design! I tried to and, well, let’s just say it did not turn out well.

I decided to go with sunny yellow for my paint color. I free handed this also, leaving about an inch for a border.

Next print out your letters and place them how you like. I didn’t do mine straight but tilted each letter a different way.

I used a very stiff brush to paint on the black. It helped the paint cover well and not bleed.

Next, take your back piece and hot glue it to your front piece. Leave about a 6 inch opening on the top to add your hanger and stuff it.

Now stuff the middle with shopping bags.

Now add your wire. Just hot glue it in and then hot glue the opening closed.

And she’s all finished! It’s so nice to have something on the door that is a little less traditional than a wreath.

I also am really liking that it has some dimension! This little door hanger has been the perfect addition for spring and summer.
