Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray

It has been quite a while since I first posted about this freebie with Elle magazine (2 months ago, eek) but I thought it was about time that I finally pulled myself together and told you what I think about this very popular product. The Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray is a cult product in the blogging world and although it is so raved about, the £21.50 price tag is something that always put me right off. This travel sized freebie was a lot more purse friendly at just £4 (the price of the magazine) and it's a great bottle to have if you're ever traveling or away for the weekend.

I'm just going to come out and say it.. I'm not completely wowed by this product. The Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray is intended to thicken your hair after being applied to wet hair and blow dried, but I just didn't see much difference in my hair after using the product. I have quite long hair which I'd say is somewhere in-between thick and thin, and the length also means that my hair can look flat and weighed down a lot of the time. I apply the product to the roots of my wet hair and then blow dry, with the upside down trick and all, but I can't say there has been a huge difference to the thickness and volume of my hair at the roots. Yes my hair has been looking a bit less flat after using the Thickening Hairspray, but for me that doesn't warrant handing over £21.50 for a product that was just okay. I know that a lot of you out there absolutely love this product and have seen a big difference in the condition of your hair, but unfortunately it just didn't do the trick for me.
One thing that I really don't like about the Thickening Hairspray is the smell. So many reviewers have described the smell as being fresh but I just can't agree with that as my bottle has more of a chemical scent than anything else. Luckily the smell doesn't linger for very long so you can just carry on with styling your hair in peace.
All in all I have to say that I'm glad I only spent £4 on this bottle as opposed to buying a full sized bottle. I'll still continue using the Thickening Hairspray in the hopes that it will surprise me with thick and voluminous hair, but for now I'm just not that impressed. I feel like I'm in the very small minority of people who don't love this product, but as always, products don't work the same for everyone. I'd love to know what you think about the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray and if it made a big difference to your hair!
