Bullets and Blood by @moviehistories

By Pamelascott

The story of the Warner Brothers studio is the story of the American dream - an immigrant family who escaped a violent beginning, and arrived penniless in America, only to conquer its newest and most lucrative art form. The Warner formula was simple - to thrill audiences with stories torn straight from the headlines, and as such, Warner Studios became the home of the crime film.

Some of the most incredible stories of the twentieth century were born in the mafia, from the shadowy machinations of Al Capone and his war on Chicago's North Side Gang, to the macabre tale of "Il Diavolo" and his juvenile henchmen....

In Bullets And Blood, hear the tale of the crime movie in the twentieth century, the incredible story of the Warner family and those they loved, and of James Cagney, the iron-willed redhead from the belly of New York, who would go on to become their biggest star.

I didn't enjoy this as much as the other The Secret History of Hollywood podcasts. It's as well researched and packed with information as the other podcasts. Hats off to Adam Roche for such detailed research and knowing his subject inside out. The issue with this podcast is the length. It's at least 10 episodes longer than the other podcasts in the series. I just felt it went on far too long. I'd started to get bored after just over 20 episodes. The podcast would have been perfect if it was 10 episodes shorter.
