In addition to making products that you can feel about 10 feet apart, Lush is known for having a strong ethical policy when it comes to their cosmetics. The company does not test on animals, all the products are vegetarian and they have removed palm oil, they support fair trade and workers' rights, and they are determined to reduce plastic waste with Naked products without plastic wrap.

Lush has sold over 16 million Naked products in the past year and now more than half of Lush's total line is Naked. This means that cosmetics like solid deodorants, solid facial oils, solid body butters and solid hair colors are available without plastic packaging. Solid shampoo bars are particularly popular; a 55 g bar lasts up to 80 washes, about three times longer than a 200 ml bottle, which means that each bar saves up to three plastic bottles from landfill. Lush has sold 41.3 million bars of shampoo since July 2005, preventing 124 million plastic bottles from being boxed.

You can even cut the plastic of your makeup bag with unwrapped lipstick refills (just remove the peelable wax coating and the slit in an old lipstick holder) and a 100% solid foundation vegan, available in 40 shades.

Switching to products without plastic packaging is such a small and simple change, but it really makes a difference. As Ruth Andrade of Lush Regenerative Impact and Earth Care said, "The Great Pacific Garbage patch is part of the ocean that is completely covered with plastic waste joined together by different currents. Only the shampoo bars sold by Lush since 2005 (as far as we count) saved the equivalent of 4% of the garbage bin. Imagine if everyone made this easy change? "
