BLURB
Someone's getting married. Someone's getting murdered.

In a dark, dark wood.

Nora hasn't seen Clare for ten years. Not since Nora walked out of school one day and never went back.

There was a dark, dark house.

Until, out of the blue, an invitation to Clare's hen do arrives. Is this a chance for Nora to finally put her past behind her?
And in the dark, dark house there was a dark, dark room.

But something goes wrong. Very wrong.

And in the dark, dark room....

Some things can't stay secret for ever.

REVIEW
In A Dark, Dark Wood is a well-written, engaging thriller. Some elements were predictable but this didn't affect my enjoyment. I loved the set up; the creepy glass house, the dark woods and twisted secrets. Some friendships can be toxic. I was best friends with a girl called Babs when I was twelve. I did things because of her I've never told anyone and that still make me burn with shame. I didn't commit a crime but she brought out the worst in me. Clare and Nora's friendship was toxic. Clare was beautiful and perfect and Nora, the plain quiet one was grateful for being chosen to bathe in her light. Some may think Nora was mad to go to the hen night of someone she cut all ties with ten years before. I could understand her motives. How she could she resist poking around that old wound to see if it still bled as much? Don't we all? Some elements are predictable. You just know some bad shit going's to happen, probably involving the gun and poor Nora will be the scapegoat. I loved the way Ware executed this though. I loved the tension, suspense and drama - the prevailing feeling that you're waiting for something awful to happen. I was surprised when Nora reveals what happened between her and James ten years before. I expected something a lot darker and was a tad disappointed. In A Dark, Dark Wood is very enjoyable and a fast read. I'd recommend this novel.
