Body, Face, and Hair: Three Winter-Ready Products You'll Love

By Scorpiondisco @scorpiondisco
Between chunky wool hats, post-NYE gym sessions, and the Polar Vortex, this winter has been rough!! Aside from the normal East Coast challenges of figuring out how to dress for cold weather outdoors and heat-blasted subways and offices indoors, not to mention having to get creative while scouting locations for our blog outfit posts, shielding your skin and hair from the elements is a top priority, and is impossible without the right battery of key products.
What that doesn't mean: More is not more. If it's not working, or if it only works sometimes, ditch it already! Using the right products does not mean using an entire Sephora's-worth of pricey confections.
What it does mean: When it comes to your skin and hair, be a minimalist. Find the bare minimum of what keeps you looking your best, and know when to stop! Products come and go, marketing campaigns glitter with promise and statistics. It's hard to be loyal, and while it's fine to be a bachelorette and play the field in dating, when it comes to beauty rituals, find the one and settle down!
Luckily for you, I've found one product each for your body, face, and hair that you can cozy up to all winter long.  You'll wonder how you ever survives before these three life-altering (really!) products.

BODY: Aveda Smoothing Body Polish, $30 at Pyara Spa and Salon and online

Body, Face, and Hair: Three Winter-Ready Products You'll LoveThe super-tiny walnut shell particles in this Aveda Body Polish exfoliate your skin so gently, you can use this every single day. You'll feel it working, but not in that painful way we've gotten used to from exfoliators. Expect glowing results that won't make you look like you got in a fight with the hot water heater.

FACE: Skoah Face Kream, $45

Body, Face, and Hair: Three Winter-Ready Products You'll Love This product actually brings a tiny little tear of joy to my eyes. I'm so glad to have found this! It smells almost watermelon-y - like the Bonne Belle Lipsmacker gloss from we used to trade like currency in middle school - and feels cooling and refreshing. The comparison to Bonne Belle Lipgloss ends there, though: Face Kream goes on smoothly, and absorbs quickly, so there's no blinding shininess like from a lot of other moisturizers that use oils and shea butter. I don't wear makeup on my face except for photoshoots, and when I used this at a blogger shoot last week, the makeup artist was gushing about how easy it was to apply foundation to my face, thanks to Skoah's Face Kream!

HAIR: Pureology Root Lift Spray Mouse, $19.99 at Jean Pierre Salon or online

Body, Face, and Hair: Three Winter-Ready Products You'll LoveA hair stylist at Jean Pierre Salon on Newbury snuck a sample of this to me after a cut and blow-out last month. I didn't try it right away, but I was heading to a fundraiser on Friday, and since it was freezing out, I planned to wear a heavy hat but didn't want hat hair. I tested this Spray Mousse out, and I can safely say, I will never again be a victim of flat, hat-smushed roots! Three days later (hey, it's the weekend..!) my roots are still as voluminous as Day 1, and that's after lots of sleeping in, and a Saturday gym session, to boot!
There you have it! Give these a go, and thank me later.
Cheers,
Renata
