What inspired you to start your own blog?

Other blogs actually! They inspired me, and, as someone who always had a thing for fashion, I thought I might inspire others as well.

How important is the name of the blog?

Not sure, really… I know choosing my name (Fashion Hoax) was a conscious decision. I wanted a name that would say “I don’t take fashion too seriously, and I’m just do what I like.” To me that was important.

How difficult is it to find a blog niche?

As someone who doesn’t really think of what my niche is, I can’t really tell. I just post what I like, lots of basic outfits and a personal column here and there. I’m very down-to-earth style-wise and as a person. Perhaps that’s my niche: down-to-earth women who happen to like fashion.

What is the best way to promote and grow your blog?

Social media. It’s not enough to just be present on social media, you have to interact with your followers. It also works to connect with similar bloggers, cause their followers might be interested in your blog.

What is your main audience and how did you reach out to them?

My main audience are 20-25 year-old women, and I reach out to them mostly through social media. And of course I talk to them through blog comments.

How important is it for your business to attend fashion week?

I think it’s good to show your face and to network. Yet you can still make it as a blogger and never going to Fashion Week. It’s fun, but I don’t think it’s necessary.

What are the best tips for building long-term relationships and partnerships with brands?

Be kind, but honest, keep them up to date on your posts and visit the company every now and then.

What is the biggest challenge about running a blog?

Scheduling everything! There’s so much to do, sometimes I don’t know where to start or what to do. Not productive at all!

What advice would you give to anyone looking to start a blog today?

Start a blog because you like to blog, not to make money and get free things. That’s the only way to enjoy it and keep doing it. I won’t deny it’s awesome to make money and get free things. Well free.. I work hard and the first years of blogging I got nothing. If you’d divide the money I make with the time I’ve put into my blog the past 4 years (from outfit shoots to social media, and from meetings to simply browsing through Pinterest for inspiration), I’d earn $1 a day I think, oops!

What are your ultimate plans for your blog/blogging career?

I’m actually going on a world trip in June 2016. I’m going to quit my job (I’m a part-time writer) to be a full-time fashion and travel blogger (and vlogger btw!). We (my boyfriend and I) plan to travel for several years, so it’s quite a plan I might say.
